Questions

Frequently asked questions

  • The Clash: European Combat Sports Festival 2026 is a five-day international combat sports event held on 20–24 October 2026 at Tallinn’s Unibet Arena. The programme features competition in K-1 kickboxing, Muay Thai, MMA and taekwondo, plus educational seminars and cultural exchange. The festival is co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Sport programme.

  • The festival covers four combat sports: K-1 kickboxing (amateur, WAKO K1-Style rules), Muay Thai (amateur, IFMA rules), MMA (amateur, IMMAF rules) and taekwondo. The first three are fought as tournaments with brackets; taekwondo is fought as single matches.

  • Competitor registration for MMA, Muay Thai and K-1 runs on Smoothcomp; taekwondo does not register there and its link is published on the registration page when it opens. The entry fee is €0 — participation is free for athletes. The registration deadline is 30 September 2026 at 23:59. Full instructions, documents and the registration link are at theclash.ee/registration.

  • No — any licensed doctor is fine, including your family doctor, and no national sports certificate is required. The doctor completes, signs and stamps The Clash medical examination form (18+ or U18 version), issued within 12 months before 20 October 2026. MMA athletes 18+ and Muay Thai athletes 16+ also need a blood test (within 12 and 6 months respectively); K-1 needs none. Your club's medical contact e-mails all documents to medical@theclash.ee by 7 October 2026 — nothing is uploaded or brought on paper. Full details at theclash.ee/registration.

  • Athletes represent their club — the club is what appears in registration, brackets and results. If your federation wants a delegation from several clubs under one flag, those clubs can be linked under an Affiliation in Smoothcomp; affiliations are created by Smoothcomp support (support@smoothcomp.com).

  • The club registers its athletes: one person per club through Smoothcomp's Coach Manager, by 30 September 2026 at 23:59 (Tallinn time). Athletes may register themselves, but the club must be selected and the same documents apply. Coaches and cornermen register separately under Coaches & Team Staff, and the club sends the coach package to info@theclash.ee. Step-by-step instructions are at theclash.ee/registration.

  • Through the Erasmus+ Sport inclusion programme, The Clash offers travel or accommodation support to 200+ athletes with fewer opportunities. It ensures equal access to high-level competition and education regardless of economic background. Application details will be published when the programme opens.

  • Yes. All education sessions are freely accessible to every festival participant — athletes, coaches, referees and team staff. Sessions cover topics such as nutrition, mental health, coach development, refereeing, personal branding and EU funding opportunities.

  • Europass is the European standard for documenting skills and qualifications. Every participant who attends The Clash education sessions receives Europass certificates that formally recognise their learning across EU member states.

  • Yes. All bouts are professionally broadcast live, making the event accessible to a global audience. Live stream links will be published on this page and our social channels before the event.

  • Tallinn is well connected by air (Tallinn Airport, TLL), sea (from Helsinki and Stockholm) and bus (Lux Express, FlixBus from Riga, Vilnius and other Baltic cities). The Unibet Arena venue is reachable by public transport from all parts of the city. See the Location and transport section for details.

All links and conditions are in the Accommodation section above (Accommodation in the sticky menu). Supported Athlete Programme participants are supported with travel or accommodation separately.

  • The Clash is launching a digital learning platform at theclash.ee, offering free and lasting access to all of the festival’s educational content — including seminars, quizzes and mobile-friendly learning resources. It ensures the knowledge shared at The Clash stays available to the combat sports community after the event.

  • The Clash is co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Sport programme (project 101245727). The granting authority is the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). Supported Athlete Program

Cost should never decide who competes. Through the Erasmus+ inclusive-participation budget, The Clash supports 200+ athletes with fewer opportunities so they can travel, stay and compete.

Who is it for

The program is for athletes with fewer opportunities, as defined in the Erasmus+ inclusion guidelines (SALTO): young people (aged 26 or under) held back by economic, social, geographical, health or educational obstacles, a disability, or cultural differences.

What the support covers

  • Travel to Estonia and back or accommodation during the festival (for some athletes both).

The program runs alongside the festival. Applications are not being collected through the site — your federation or club will be contacted directly.
